Chan Tov McNamarah is an Assistant Professor of Law and Richard W. & Marie L. Corman Scholar at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law. Their research examines the nature of discrimination, the purposes of its legal regulation, and how constitutional law shapes—and is shaped by—the dynamics of identity and status-based inequality.

Their prior writing on the structure of legal arguments against the equal citizenship of gender and sexual minorities has twice been honored by the Dukeminier Awards, and is published in Columbia Law Review, California Law Review, Cornell Law Review, and Emory Law Journal.

Previously, Chan Tov practiced in New York and São Paulo, focusing on white-collar defense and government investigations.
